Email editors about new translations

This guide shows how to let the connector email your editors when translations arrive for review.

Turn it on

Set NOTIFY_EDITORS in the PONYGLOT setting:

import os

PONYGLOT = {
    "API_KEY": os.environ["PONYGLOT_API_KEY"],
    "NOTIFY_EDITORS": True, # everyone who may apply suggestions
    # "NOTIFY_EDITORS": ["editors@example.com"],   # or fixed addresses
    "SITE_URL": "https://www.example.com", # for absolute links to the admin
}
  • True emails everyone who has the permission Can change translation suggestion.

  • A list of addresses emails exactly those.

Every sync that brings new translations sends one email, for example “3 translations ready for review”, counted per language and with QA errors mentioned. Syncs without new translations send nothing.

Requirements

  • The emails go through your site’s email setup (EMAIL_BACKEND, DEFAULT_FROM_EMAIL), not through Ponyglot.

  • Without SITE_URL the link to the admin is relative, which most email clients can’t open.

Limits

Recipients apply to the whole site. Choosing recipients per page or per object isn’t supported yet.
