Plans and usage¶

Prices, the current offers and the rate for characters beyond the included volume are on the pricing page. This page describes how the plans work.

Plans¶

Pro and Agency are made for CMS sites and agencies. Growth and Scale are usage-based plans for apps that translate model content with django-parler or django-modeltranslation.

Every plan includes the hosted engines, EU hosting, the translation memory, the glossary, delta sync, the review queue, QA checks and brand voice. Plans are billed monthly or yearly; yearly billing includes two months free.

The open-source connectors also work without Ponyglot Cloud, with your own DeepL or LLM key. No subscription is needed for that.

Which sites are covered¶

Pro: the sites in the order they were added, up to the number of sites in the subscription. Add sites under Billing.
Agency: the first 10 sites of the organization, in the order they were added.

A job for a site that isn’t covered fails with 402 and the code site_not_covered.

What counts¶

Billable characters are the source characters sent to a translation engine (DeepL or the LLM), markup included.
Translation memory hits don’t count towards your characters.
Repeats of the same source text within one job are sent once and count once.
Failed segments aren’t counted.

Usage months¶

Usage months are calendar months in UTC, also with yearly billing. The included volume applies to each month; unused characters don’t carry over.

Beyond the included volume¶

Translation doesn’t stop when the included characters are used up. Characters beyond the included volume are billed after the month; see the pricing page. A job that would use characters beyond the included volume needs confirmation first.

Confirmation¶

A job needs confirmation (409, "confirm": true) if:

it has more than 100,000 billable characters, or
it would use characters beyond the included volume.

Estimates include the characters that queued and running jobs requested earlier are still expected to use.

Notifications¶

Owners and admins get an email when a usage scope reaches 80 % and 100 % of its included characters in a month.

Subscription states¶

Hosted translation works while the subscription is trialing, active or past due (while the payment is being collected). A paused or canceled subscription stops new jobs with subscription_inactive.
