Ponyglot documentation¶
Ponyglot is one translation layer for the whole Django stack: django CMS pages, Wagtail pages, and app models translated with django-parler or django-modeltranslation. Ponyglot Cloud keeps one glossary and one translation memory for all of them. It tracks every source sentence, so only what changed gets retranslated. Nothing is published automatically: translations arrive on your site as drafts or suggestions, and your editors approve them.
This documentation covers Ponyglot Cloud (the dashboard at app.ponyglot.app and the API at
https://api.ponyglot.app/v1/) and the connectors for Django.
The documentation follows the Diátaxis framework: lessons, recipes, background and reference each have their place, so you find what you need quickly.
Choose your path¶
New here? Lessons that take you from an invitation to a translated page in your CMS, step by step. Start with Connect your site (about 15 minutes).
Something to get done? Short recipes for a single task: connecting a site, importing existing translations, managing the glossary, reviewing translations.
Want to understand the ideas? How units, segments and fingerprints work, why nothing is published automatically, and how billing counts characters.
Looking up a detail? Every API endpoint, field, limit, state and QA check.
Shortcuts: the first tutorial, Connect your Django site, and the interactive API reference, generated from the running code.
